Split with ChatGPT
This privacy policy describes how the Split with ChatGPT Chrome extension handles data while it manages a split browser layout with ChatGPT beside the page you are viewing.
What the extension accesses
The extension reads the active tab URL and checks for open ChatGPT tabs locally in your browser so it can place ChatGPT beside the current page and keep split mode in sync when tabs or windows close.
What data is stored locally
- Split side preference
- Split width ratio preference
- Temporary split session metadata needed to restore or clean up layout state
- Pending ChatGPT tab identifiers used for best-effort Temporary Chat retries
These values are stored in chrome.storage.local on your device.
What is not collected or shared
- No chat content is sent to the developer
- No browsing activity is sent to the developer or third parties
- No analytics, advertising, or remote telemetry is included
- No remote code is downloaded and executed by the extension
Why ChatGPT host permissions are needed
Access to chatgpt.com and chat.openai.com is limited to
finding, reusing, and interacting with ChatGPT tabs that participate in split mode.
A best-effort in-page action may be used to try enabling Temporary Chat.
